The name Quintiliolo derives from the territory owned by the Quintili family. Their villa once stood here and the church and then the convent were built on the site.

This splendid religious complex is dedicated to the sacred image of the Virgin Mary, found according to a legend, by a farmer who was working the land with a plough. The neoclassical facade is divided into two parts and is dominated by a tall steeple that towers over the surrounding landscape and the area of the former paper mill of Tivoli, near the Sanctuary of Hercules Victor. The interior has a nave with two side chapels: the left one contains a painting of Our Lady Queen of Saints, an eighteenth-century work of Francesco Serbucci from Tivoli. On the main altar there is the Icon of Our Lady of Quintiliolo, the symbol of the sanctuary dating back to the thirteenth century, depicting the Virgin enthroned holding up the baby Jesus with her left knee. Every first Sunday of May this beautiful Christian figure is taken in procession from the sanctuary to the Cathedral of San Lorenzo, where it remains until 8 September and is then taken back to the sanctuary.
