The three monumental travertine fountains, a rectangular one in the center and two smaller, round ones at the ends, located in Largo Garibaldi were built in 1958 according to the design of Engineer Primo Boghi (1893-1965) in the area originally occupied by three buildings destroyed by Anglo-American air raids in 1944: palazzi Tigliè, Viola and Todini.
Immediately after World War II, a project was made for the general arrangement of the square by arch. Alfredo Scalpelli (1898-1966), which included the demolition of the bombed buildings, the leveling of the area and its widening to the west, pouring the rubble between the Garibaldi Garden and the National Boarding School.
